||Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the School Age Program Director, the Site Director 1 is responsible for planning and implementing all activities and executing daily lesson plans for a School Age Before and After School site of 25 or less children. The Site Director 1 will supervise site staff and their activities. The Site Director 1 will be responsible for providing a School Age program that will ensure the participants safety at all times and foster childrens social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth and adheres to YMCA program guidelines and DHS standards. The Site Director 1 will maintain positive relationships with YMCA staff, school staff, and School Age participants.
||Education / Experience Required:
Minimum 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent and Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) certificate for completing thirty hours of orientation training, or the equivalent as recognized by the Department and four years of experience in child development or related experience; OR
Two years of college (30 hours of which shall be in business or management, child or youth development, early childhood education or related field) and two years of experience in a group setting; OR
Four-year degree and one year of full-time (paid or unpaid) experience in a group setting
Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet, Praesidium Child Abuse Detection / Prevention training and BBP
Required Before Start of Shift: First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Emergency Oxygen, DHS Background Disclosure Form & Fingerprints, Abuse Registry Check, DHS Physical health form, DHS fingerprint appt., three letters of reference
Within 30 days of hire: DHS 1st Steps
Within the first year: must meet annual training requirements including TECTA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
This position requires an individual with an enthusiastic personality who can develop harmonious relationships with staff, members, volunteers, and school leaders and have the ability to work well with children in cooperation with other site staff. S/he must provide consistent leadership and program continuity. S/he must demonstrate a proven ability to recruit, train, lead and motivate staff. S/he must present a professional image and have excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and be knowledgeable of O.S.H.A. regulations and all DHS licensing procedures. S/he must be highly organized, possess supervisory skills, conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment, initiative and independent thinking. S/he must have the ability to travel to more than one site when necessary.
Physical Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; see, talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. (Acceptable weather conditions: Temperature range, after adjustment for wind chills and heat index, between 32 degrees and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.) The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
||Duties and Responsibilities:
Model YMCA core values: respect, responsibility, caring and honesty.
Maintain citywide policies and procedures; monitor state licensing standards; conduct a licensing inspection at the School Age site.
Implement a daily curriculum that meets YMCA guidelines and direct staff and children in the daily activities outlines; maintain weekly lesson plans, calendars, and daily record keeping.
Actively lead and engage a group of 15 to 20 (DHS maximum is 20) children in activities outlined by the site director either inside or outside program areas and during transition times.
Set up and take down program space so that area is transformed into child-friendly environment. This includes moving, cleaning, picking up and putting back furniture and equipment ensuring program space is left in organized fashion.
Supervise staff including schedules, staff coverage, and time sheets; assist in training and developing part-time staff.
Attend all staff meetings and in-service training as required by the program staff.
Develop and maintain communication with parents that meet DHS requirements; attend and/or conduct parent conferences.
Develop, implement, and participate on a parent advisory board a minimum of twice a year.
Maintain individual files, accounts receivable, and collect fees and monitor to ensure that they are current and complete.
Assist in controlling and maintaining supplies and inventory on site and purchase and maintain snacks.
Participate in YMCA volunteer programs and the annual We Build People Campaign.
Carry out special projects and perform office duties as assigned by program staff.
